U.S. diplomats ordered to report “anti-Christian bias” among colleagues

The Trump administration directed U.S. State Department employees to report any instances of “anti-Christian bias” displayed by their colleagues, according to an internal memo obtained by Politico.

This directive is part of the administration’s broader efforts to protect and support Christian employees within the federal government.

The directive, which was sent via telegram to U.S. embassies around the world on behalf of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, was also made available to all State Department personnel. It urges employees to report “anti-religious bias” from fellow colleagues. Reports can be made anonymously but must include as much detail as possible, such as names, dates, and locations where the incident occurred.

Some employees within the State Department expressed surprise and concern about the directive, according to Politico. “It really feels like The Handmaid’s Tale,” one anonymous source was quoted as saying.

The State Department has not responded to Politico’s request for comment regarding the directive.

Earlier in February, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the creation of a special task force within the Department of Justice aimed at “eradicating anti-Christian bias” in federal agencies.
