Berlin authorities want to ban guns and knives on public transportation

The authorities of Berlin are considering the introduction of a new ban on carrying weapons and knives in public transport. This was reported by the newspaper Tagesspiegel.

It is expected that this restriction will not only apply to transport itself, but also to key infrastructure such as railway stations, metro, regional trains, buses, trams, and even ferries, making it one of the most widespread bans in the city.

The main goal of this initiative is to enhance safety in public spaces and improve control by law enforcement. The police will have more opportunities to check passengers and prevent potential incidents related to weapons or aggressive behavior. The authorities believe that such a measure will help reduce violence levels and increase public peace, especially in light of recent incidents in the city’s transport system.
