U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance held a series of official meetings at the Vatican

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance has begun a series of official meetings at the Vatican, according to ANSA, citing the Holy See Press Office.

On Saturday, Vance met with the Vatican’s Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. The meeting was described as warm and cordial. During their talks, both sides discussed pressing international issues, with particular attention given to countries affected by war, political instability, and humanitarian crises. Topics such as migrants, refugees, and prisoners were also highlighted.

The strong bilateral relationship between the Vatican and the United States was emphasized, and both parties reaffirmed their shared commitment to protecting the freedom of religion and belief.

Ahead of the official meetings, Vance visited the Vatican with his wife and three children. The family attended the Good Friday service at St. Peter’s Basilica. They are also expected to celebrate Easter at the Vatican on April 20.
