The strike was triggered after labor disputes over collective agreements for public servants remained unresolved as of yesterday. As a result, the new strike officially began at 00:01 on Tuesday, April 22, and will continue until 23:59 on Thursday, April 24.
Among those participating in the strike are employees of the Finnish Meteorological Institute, police departments in Eastern Uusimaa and Southeastern Finland, and the Postal Customs.
During the strike, police stations in Eastern Uusimaa and Southeastern Finland will be closed, and crime reports will be accepted online only. Applications for temporary protection and asylum will not be processed.
It is noted that the strike does not affect work where non-performance could endanger life or health or pose a significant risk to property.
Negotiations over a collective agreement for nearly 80,000 public servants and state employees have been ongoing since mid-January. The main point of contention is wage increases.
Talks are scheduled to resume on Thursday, April 24.
