Putin and Witkoff discussed in Moscow the possibility of resuming direct talks between Russia and Ukraine

Talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Stephen Witkoff, special representative of U.S. President Donald Trump, have concluded in Moscow.

According to Russian officials, one of the key topics of the meeting was the potential resumption of direct dialogue between Moscow and Kyiv. This was reported to journalists by Yuri Ushakov, aide to the Russian president.

As part of the discussion on the Ukrainian crisis, the possibility of renewing direct negotiations between representatives of Russia and Ukraine was raised, Ushakov stated.

He added that the talks helped bring Russian and U.S. positions closer — not only on the Ukraine issue, but also on a number of other international matters. The meeting, he said, was constructive and lasted more than three hours.

This marks the second meeting between Putin and Witkoff in the past two weeks, and the fourth since the beginning of the year. Their previous discussion took place in St. Petersburg on April 11 and lasted over four hours.
