Airplane crash in Washington: the plane collided with a military helicopter and fell into the river

An aviation disaster occurred in the U.S. capital: a Bombardier passenger plane, operating a flight from Wichita, Kansas, collided with a Sikorsky H-60 military helicopter and plunged into the water.

According to CNN, citing the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the incident took place as an American Airlines jet was approaching for landing at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

U.S. military officials confirmed the collision between a U.S. Army helicopter and the passenger aircraft. The plane had 60 passengers and four crew members on board, while the helicopter carried three people. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, the helicopter was conducting a training flight and was not carrying high-ranking officials.

There is no official information on fatalities yet, but a CBS News source reports that at least 18 bodies have been found in the Potomac River. The search for survivors continues.
