Russian Duma warns of nuclear war after Tucker Carlson’s bold Putin assassination claim

Tucker Carlson made waves on his Jan. 27 podcast, alleging that the Biden administration attempted to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin. He singled out Secretary of State Antony Blinken, claiming he was “pushing so hard for a real war” in a desperate bid to shield Biden’s administration from scrutiny.

“I think that’s one of the reasons Tony Blinken was pushing so hard for a real war, trying to kill Putin, for example, which the Biden administration did, they tried to kill Putin,” Carlson stated. A stunned Matt Taibbi asked, “Really?” to which Carlson doubled down: “Yes, yes, they did, which is insane.”

The Kremlin, however, dismissed the accusation. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Interfax that Moscow had no knowledge of such a plot and labeled the claim as “unfounded.” He cautioned against taking such statements at face value, regardless of their source.

Despite Peskov’s dismissal, Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of the Russian State Duma, took Carlson’s assertion seriously. Speaking to TASS, he warned that even discussing an assassination attempt on Putin was a grave crime and a direct threat to global stability.

“A plot to assassinate Putin, mere discussions of it, is a crime, a serious threat to global security, a direct path to nuclear war,” Volodin wrote on Telegram. He urged international institutions to take the claim seriously and launch an investigation.
