Swedish police: No evidence that mass shooting was ideologically motivated

Swedish police stated on Wednesday, February 5, that “false narratives” are spreading on social media regarding the mass shooting that took place on Tuesday, February 4, at an adult education center.

Law enforcement officials reported that, based on investigative and intelligence data, there is currently “no evidence suggesting that the perpetrator acted with ideological motives.”

As previously reported, the February 4 shooting at Risbergska School in Örebro resulted in 11 deaths and numerous injuries. Police initially noted that the motive for the crime was not immediately clear. They believe the suspect, who was among the deceased and had no prior record with law enforcement, acted alone.

Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson called the attack “the worst mass shooting in Sweden’s history,” describing it as a “harrowing day” in a statement on X (Twitter).

On Tuesday, February 4, shortly after 1:30 PM, police received reports of ongoing violence, possibly with fatal consequences, at Campus Risbergska in Örebro.
