Kremlin rejects Erdoğan’s “peace plan”

The Kremlin has responded to media reports about a “peace plan” proposed by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to end the war in Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the proposals reported in the media are unacceptable to Russia.

“A freeze along the current line of contact is categorically unacceptable for the Russian side,” Peskov emphasized. When asked whether President Vladimir Putin and Erdoğan had discussed such plans, Peskov denied it.

No, this has not been discussed. We noted the publications, but so far, we have no information on the matter and do not know what it might be about, he added.

According to Bloomberg, Erdoğan plans to present his “peace plan” for Russia’s war against Ukraine at the upcoming G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The proposals reportedly include freezing hostilities at the current positions of the warring parties and postponing discussions on Ukraine’s NATO membership for at least 10 years.
