U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio assured that under Donald Trump’s presidency, Iran will not acquire nuclear weapons.
In an interview with journalist Catherine Herridge, published by the U.S. State Department’s press service, Rubio stated that the Trump administration is focused on returning to maximum pressure on the Iranian regime.
He refrained from detailing the specific actions the U.S. might take but stressed that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons is a priority.
“I want to make it clear that the Iranian regime… must never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons, with which they could hold the world hostage and potentially attack Israel,” Rubio emphasized.
Rubio further remarked that if the U.S. desired the end of the Iranian regime, it could have already occurred.
“But the president is a peacemaker. He would prefer to avoid this and prevent such circumstances… but under Donald Trump, there will be no nuclear Iran,” he concluded.
