Plane crash in Sudan: over 40 dead

A Sudanese military transport plane crashed shortly after takeoff, hitting residential buildings in the Khartoum province.

At least 46 people were killed, including several high-ranking military officials. According to military sources, among the victims was Brigadier General Bahar Ahmed, one of the key leaders of the Sudanese army. At least ten others were injured.

The crash occurred in the city of Omdurman. Search and rescue operations are still underway. Preliminary reports suggest that a technical malfunction was the cause of the tragedy.
