Russia and the United States are considering the possibility of cooperation in the Arctic – Bloomberg

The discussions focus on resource exploration, trade routes, and energy projects, though negotiations are still in the early stages.

One of Bloomberg’s sources stated that U.S. officials see Arctic cooperation as an opportunity to “split Moscow and Beijing,” although, in their view, this is unlikely to succeed given the strengthening ties between Russia and China.

In recent years, the Arctic has attracted increasing attention due to the melting of ice, which is opening new shipping routes and opportunities for exploring energy and mineral resources.

On February 18, the first negotiations between Russian and American delegations in three years took place in Riyadh. Among the topics discussed were Arctic energy projects. Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and one of the negotiators, mentioned that Arctic cooperation was one of the key subjects on the agenda.
