Armenia has confirmed that the peace agreement with Azerbaijan is ready to be signed, following statements from Azerbaijan’s side regarding the completion of the negotiations.
The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Armenia had informed their Azerbaijani counterparts that they accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals on two unresolved points in the draft agreement on normalizing relations. Armenia also suggested issuing a joint statement to finalize the text of the peace agreement and conclude the negotiations.
“However, official Baku decided to make a unilateral statement,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs remarked.
“The peace agreement is ready to be signed. The Republic of Armenia is ready to begin consultations with the Republic of Azerbaijan regarding the date and location of the signing of the agreement,” the Armenian statement continued.
This announcement followed an earlier statement from the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, who confirmed that the negotiations on the peace agreement had been completed.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan recently expressed optimism, stating that he sees “all the prerequisites” for peace with Azerbaijan.
