Somalian president’s motorcade bombed: Casualties reported

A bomb explosion targeted the convoy of Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in the capital, Mogadishu. The incident occurred shortly after the presidential motorcade left the palace and headed toward the airport.

According to Somali Guardian, the terrorist group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, stating that the explosion took place immediately after the convoy departed.

The blast occurred near the El-Gaabta intersection, close to the presidential palace. Law enforcement authorities have reported casualties, and security forces have cordoned off the area.

Somali National Security Advisor Hussein Sheikh Ali confirmed that the president was unharmed and is continuing his travels across the country for official duties.
