Dutch police detain pro-Palestinian students who took over the University of Amsterdam building

In Amsterdam, police detained at least five participants in a pro-Palestinian protest that took place at the University of Amsterdam.

The students occupied an administrative building to express their opposition to the university’s cooperation with Israeli educational institutions amid the conflict in Gaza.

According to local media, clashes broke out between the protesters and students holding opposing views. There were also confrontations between the demonstrators and riot police. One activist hung a banner from a window and launched a green flare.

The demonstrators demanded the immediate termination of academic cooperation with Israeli universities, accusing the university administration of supporting military actions.

The protest took place in the historic center of the city and drew attention from both the public and law enforcement, who intervened once unrest began.
