U.S. Presidential Special Envoy Steven Whitkoff will meet with Vladimir Putin on Friday, April 25th

Stephen Witkoff, the U.S. President Joe Biden’s special envoy for special assignments, is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Russia on Friday, April 25. This was reported by the American news outlet Axios, citing sources familiar with the matter.

According to Axios, Witkoff’s visit to Russia has not been publicly announced, though officials in Washington have confirmed the trip, stating that it is scheduled to take place this week. The specific agenda of the visit remains undisclosed, but experts suggest it may involve discussions on key international issues, including the war in Ukraine, strategic stability, and the future of U.S.-Russia relations, which remain deeply strained.

Witkoff’s movement has been indirectly confirmed by data from the aviation tracking service Flightradar24. According to the platform, a Gulfstream G650 private jet, believed to be carrying the U.S. envoy, departed from Paris toward Russia on Wednesday morning. The aircraft is expected to land at one of Moscow’s airports.

The Kremlin has not yet officially confirmed the meeting, but according to Axios, the Russian side has received relevant notifications, and the visit’s details are currently being finalized. Sources also suggest the talks could take place in an expanded format, involving key representatives from both delegations.
