On November 27, Lampedusa saw a significant influx of migrants, with 12 boats arriving on the island in a single day, bringing a total of 465 people.
The day began with the arrival of 97 migrants, who reached Lampedusa between the evening of November 26 and the early hours of November 27. Among them, 21 landed at Cala Francese, and 19 arrived at Cala Maluk. These migrants came from various countries, including the Ivory Coast, Somalia, Egypt, Mali, Syria and Bangladesh.
At the Favarolo dock, a Finance Guard patrol boat, the V836, brought 57 migrants – Bengali, Pakistani, Sudanese and Egyptians – rescued from a vessel off the coast. The migrants reported they had departed from Abu Kammash and Sabratha in Libya.
All 97 individuals were taken to the Contrada Imbriacola hotspot, which was already housing 524 people at the time of their arrival.
Later in the morning, the Prefecture of Agrigento arranged the transfer of 266 migrants, who were transported by ferry and arrived at Port Empedocle in the evening.
Throughout the day, additional boats continued to reach Lampedusa. Frontex patrol boats intercepted four dinghies, while a fifth, carrying 66 migrants, managed to land at Cala Pisana. In just a few hours, five boats had arrived, totaling 175 migrants.
As the day progressed, more boats were spotted and rescued, bringing another 193 people to Lampedusa, reaching a total of 465 migrants by the evening of November 27.
