Mike Huckabee tapped as U.S. Ambassador to Israel, promises stronger support for Jewish state

Mike Huckabee, 69, is set to be nominated as the new U.S. Ambassador to Israel, a move that’s likely to be met with approval in Israel.

Known as a staunch supporter of the Jewish state, Huckabee’s appointment promises a more consistent approach to Israel’s security, especially after the uncertainty surrounding weapons deliveries under President Biden. Under Trump, Israel got the support it needed, and Huckabee is expected to continue that strong stance.

As the first evangelical Christian to take on the ambassador role, Huckabee is a self-described Christian Zionist. He doesn’t view the West Bank settlements as such, instead referring to the region by its biblical names, Judea and Samaria, signaling his firm opposition to the two-state solution. This perspective will likely influence U.S. policy in the region.

Previously, Huckabee served as governor of Arkansas, a position now held by his daughter, Sarah. He currently hosts a program on the global evangelical network, TBN, further solidifying his influence within conservative Christian circles.
