Donald Trump stated that he intends to meet with Vladimir Putin “very quickly.”
He made this remark during an interview with Newsmax, adding that his strategy for ending the war in Ukraine depends on the Russian leader. When asked about his plan to end the conflict, Trump replied,
There’s only one strategy, and it depends on Putin. I can’t imagine that he’s happy with how things are going, because for him, things haven’t gone too well either.
He also mentioned that he is aware of Putin’s desire to meet and that he himself is ready to arrange a meeting soon.
I would have done this earlier, but for some things, you need to be in office, Trump explained, referring to his upcoming inauguration on January 20.
Earlier, Mike Waltz, Trump’s national security advisor, stated that preparations are underway for either a meeting or a phone call between the U.S. and Russian presidents. However, the Kremlin has not confirmed this information.
