Fico says Slovakia is coordinating meeting date with Zelensky

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico stated that the Slovak side is still coordinating the date for his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

He made this statement during a press conference in the Slovak city of Košice on Thursday, January 16. According to Fico, the Slovak side is looking for “another date (for the meeting between the Slovak Prime Minister and Zelensky) that should be in the next few days.”

“Once this date is confirmed, I will immediately inform you,” said the Slovak Prime Minister, adding that additional details about the meeting’s location will also be shared later.

Recall, on January 13, Fico signed an open letter to Zelensky, inviting the Ukrainian president to meet in order to address issues related to gas transit.

Fico emphasized that he does not intend to escalate tensions further and wishes to focus entirely on resolving the situation related to the suspension of gas transit.
