Sweden is seething with collective outrage after a shocking incident involving a 26-year-old Syrian migrant who attempted to rob a 91-year-old woman and then callously shoved her down a flight of stairs.
Footage from the scene captures a bystander racing down the stairs, only to flee the area without offering any assistance. Sadly, two other individuals also chose to ignore the victim in her time of need.
This disturbing event unfolded on August 29 at Sollentuna station, located roughly eight miles northwest of Stockholm. The recordings reveal Karam Kanjo grappling with the elderly woman, who valiantly fights back, but they both tumble down the stairs in the struggle. The woman sustained serious injuries as Kanjo clung to her necklace during the fall. It’s worth noting that Kanjo arrived in Sweden amid the 2015 European refugee crisis.
Swedes are outraged by a new video showing the 26-year-old Syrian asylum seeker Karam Kanjo robbing a 91-year-old Swedish woman of the necklace she was gifted by her husband 50 years ago.

As reported by LBC News, a 91-year-old woman set out to visit her husband’s grave when she became the target of a violent robbery. The necklace that the migrant yanked from her neck held sentimental value, having been a cherished gift from 40 years ago. Shaken to her core, she expressed that she’d never encountered such brutality in her life. Thankfully, she escaped with only minor injuries.
The man behind this heinous act, Karam Kanjo, isn’t new to trouble; he’s previously faced convictions for sexual offenses and had even been expelled from the country. Now, he’s been handed a sentence of five and a half years in prison, along with a hefty compensation of SEK 93,100 (around 8,600 EUR) for the victim. To top it off, he’s also received a ban on returning to Sweden following his deportation.
Meanwhile, the newly formed Swedish government, spearheaded by the Moderate Party and backed by the conservative Swedish Democrats, has been ramping up restrictions on asylum seekers. This shift has resulted in a noticeable increase in expulsions, leading to a net outflow of individuals seeking asylum in the country.
