U.S. arming Ukraine with M712 Copperhead artillery, footage shows

Recent battlefield footage has confirmed that the U.S. has supplied Ukraine with M712 Copperhead laser-guided 155 mm artillery rounds.

This confirmation comes from a video filmed in the Kursk region, showing the American-made projectiles in action. Although rumors had swirled about Ukraine using these weapons, this is the first clear visual evidence.

Before this, a Russian Telegram channel had leaked documents, allegedly from a Ukrainian special forces unit, which claimed that M712 Copperhead rounds had been in use in the Kursk region since August.

Developed by the U.S. in the 1970s, the M712 Copperhead was first used during the 1991 Gulf War. However, it is no longer in production, with fewer than 20,000 rounds in existence as of 1995. These projectiles have a range of 3 to 16 kilometers.
As of now, it’s unclear how many Copperheads Ukraine has received or when exactly they were deployed on the frontlines.
