Spain faces severe flooding again due to continued heavy rains

Southern Spain has been hit with another round of intense rains, leading to widespread flooding and prompting evacuations in areas near rivers due to the high risk of additional flooding. Authorities have issued evacuation orders for communities at risk, especially in the southern and eastern regions, including Málaga, Catalonia, and Valencia.

The floods follow a recent deadly wave of storms in the region that left more than 200 people dead and caused extensive damage to infrastructure, homes, and farmlands. Emergency services are on high alert, and rescue teams have been deployed to aid in evacuations and provide immediate assistance to affected areas.

Many schools and businesses have been temporarily closed for safety. Local governments in affected regions have opened temporary shelters for those displaced and are coordinating relief efforts with national authorities. Weather agencies are forecasting continued rainfall, which may exacerbate the situation in areas already saturated by previous storms.

The heavy rains have also led to landslides in hilly regions, further complicating evacuation and rescue operations. In response to the ongoing crisis, Spain’s national government has mobilized additional resources, including military assistance, to support regional authorities in affected areas.
