The U.S. conducted airstrikes on Houthi weapon depots in Yemen in response to attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that the strikes took place on November 9 and 10, utilizing F-35C fighter jets and MQ-9 Reaper drones.
The operation was in response to “repeated unlawful attacks by the Houthis on international shipping and American vessels” in the region. During the strikes, eight drones and several missiles, which the Houthis had aimed at commercial ships, were destroyed.
According to CENTCOM, no American personnel were harmed during the operation. The Houthis claim their attacks are directed at vessels linked to Israel and aim to show solidarity with Palestinians amid the Gaza conflict. Since the beginning of the year, the U.S. and the U.K. have repeatedly targeted Houthi facilities in the region due to their assaults on commercial ships.
