Russian forces claim key advances in Ukraine

Russia’s Ministry of Defense has announced a major gain on the Ukrainian front, with its troops reportedly seizing the village of Voznesenka in Donetsk, according to Magyar Nemzet, citing Hungarian news agency MTI.

Moscow claims its forces have made significant strides on four fronts, fending off 15 Ukrainian counterattacks and inflicting heavy casualties.

In just the last 24 hours, Russia asserts that over 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers were either killed or seriously wounded in this “special operation” zone.

Vitaly Ganchev, the Russian-appointed leader of Kharkiv Oblast, told RIA Novosti that Russian forces are solidifying positions on the outskirts of Kupyansk. He added that their offensive will push both northeast and southeast of the city, potentially trapping a “quite large” Ukrainian force in a semi-surrounded position.

Meanwhile, Vladimir Rogov, co-chair of the Integration Coordination Council for the New Regions, reported the capture of 12 square kilometers of territory. He claimed that the Russian military had “straightened” the front line between Novodorivka and Rivnopil in Zaporizhia Oblast and was pushing further west.

The Russian Ministry of Defense also reported significant damage to Ukrainian military infrastructure, including several military airports, an energy facility, five ammunition depots, and numerous vehicles. The tally of destroyed equipment includes four tanks, 16 armored combat vehicles, two 155mm Western-made self-propelled howitzers, six U.S. HIMARS missiles, and 78 drones.

In the Kursk region, Ukrainian losses reportedly included 10 tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, and 19 other armored vehicles. Since Ukraine began its invasion on August 6, Moscow claims to have inflicted heavy losses on Ukrainian forces: 32,580 soldiers, 212 tanks, 136 infantry fighting vehicles, and 1,165 armored vehicles, among other equipment.

On Thursday, local officials reported Ukrainian artillery and drone attacks on Russian-controlled territories and regions bordering Ukraine. In Horlivka, Donetsk, ten civilians were injured by artillery strikes, while one person was killed and three injured in Luhansk.

The Russian Investigative Committee (SZK) reported damages caused by Ukrainian forces in Russian regions at an estimated 60 billion rubles (roughly 230 billion forints). They have also charged around 800 foreign mercenaries who fought alongside Ukrainian troops. Investigations into some 70 defendants, including citizens from Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, France, the U.S., Moldova, and Sweden, have concluded, with Russian courts convicting over 30 of them.

Additionally, Russia’s Federal Security Service announced the detention of a 21-year-old Russian citizen accused of providing sensitive military data to Ukrainian intelligence.
