At the Future Investment Initiative conference, Elon Musk shared his ambitious plans, including the development of SpaceX, Tesla’s self-driving cars, artificial intelligence (AI), and addressing global challenges facing humanity.
Musk predicts that by 2029, machines will surpass humans in intelligence, with AI development accelerating tenfold each year. However, he warned of a significant risk—an estimated 10-20% chance that uncontrolled AI could pose a threat to humanity. Another pressing issue, according to Musk, is the looming demographic collapse, particularly evident in declining birth rates in South Korea and Europe, which requires urgent attention.
Regarding Mars colonization, Musk reaffirmed SpaceX’s plans to send its first unmanned spacecraft to the Red Planet in just over two years, with crewed missions potentially launching two years later. He believes that reducing the cost of launches is crucial to realizing his vision of establishing a self-sustaining colony on Mars.
Musk also predicts that by 2040, Earth will host approximately 10 billion humanoid robots. He is confident that technological advancements will ensure a high standard of living for everyone, eliminating the need for a universal basic income.
