In the German city of Osnabrück, 14,000 people are being evacuated because of World War II bombs

Due to the search for and disposal of potential unexploded bombs from World War II, around 14,000 residents in Osnabrück must leave their homes on Sunday.

The evacuation zone includes two hospitals and several nursing homes. The affected areas are Fledder, Schinkel, and the city center. According to Osnabrück city authorities, a total of 8,650 households and about 300 business addresses are impacted.

Suspicious objects were discovered during a survey of the site of a former freight station on the outskirts of the city center, where a new district is planned for development. During the operation to inspect and neutralize the bombs, the main train station will also be closed.
