Liz Truss: Britain needs its own version of Donald Trump

Former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss believes Britain needs a figure like Donald Trump to bring about change. Speaking at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit in New Delhi, Truss expressed admiration for Trump’s victory in the U.S. presidential election and called for a similar figure to lead the UK.

“I think we need a British Trump,” Truss said, adding that Britons are craving the “same kind of revolution” Trump is driving in America. However, she ruled herself out as the one to lead this movement, saying she had already “put my fingers in the fire” during her brief premiership.

Truss, who resigned after 49 days in office in 2022 following economic turmoil caused by a tax-cutting budget, has since become a strong supporter of Trump’s policies, citing his economic growth and domestic achievements. She has attended key Republican events and urged conservatives to challenge the “deep state.”

Truss also predicted that Trump’s influence would spread beyond the U.S. to Europe, including the UK, in the coming years, citing growing dissatisfaction in countries like France and Germany over economic stagnation.
