France: Cyclist brutally stabbed and robbed by three ‘youths’

A cyclist was brutally attacked, stabbed, and robbed by three individuals in Rennes, France, on Monday evening.

The incident occurred in the city center, where one attacker stabbed the cyclist in the abdomen while another made off with the victim’s bike. A bystander, attempting to step in, was threatened with a weapon by the assailant who carried out the stabbing.

Emergency responders treated the injured cyclist, who is expected to make a full recovery.

Police acted swiftly, arresting the suspects just after midnight on Boulevard de Verdun. The individuals—Imane M., 18, Ben Yasser A., 20, and Ben Abderemane C., 21—now face charges of attempted murder, carrying a category D weapon, intentional violence with a weapon, and theft.

Authorities revealed that two of the suspects, Ben Yasser A. and Ben Abderemane C., were born in Mamoudzou, Mayotte, a French overseas territory. As of now, all three remain in police custody while investigations continue.

To reassure residents and deter further violence, officials have announced plans to ramp up patrols in the area. However, details about the suspects’ motives or backgrounds have not yet been made public. The investigation into this shocking attack is still underway.
