Viktor Orbán: the most dangerous two months of the war in Ukraine are yet to come

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that the most perilous months of the war in Ukraine are still ahead, revealing that he has convened the country’s Defense Council due to “alarming news.”

Orbán emphasized that the threat of escalation and the potential for the war to expand is now greater than ever. In a video shared on his social media, he explained that the situation is critical following a briefing with the Defense Council.

The prime minister noted that the prospect of peace, or at least a ceasefire, had become more tangible with the anticipated return of Donald Trump to the presidency. However, Orbán pointed out that a pro-war U.S. administration is still in power and will remain so for the next two months.

In practice, this means Ukrainians launched long-range missiles into Russian territory on Tuesday, and Russia responded by adopting a more stringent nuclear doctrine, Orbán said.

Looking ahead, he stressed that Hungary must rely on “all its knowledge and diplomatic experience” to avoid being drawn into the conflict.
