The conservative bloc of the CDU/CSU has prepared a secret list of ten laws passed by the current “traffic light” coalition (SPD, Greens, and FDP) in recent years. If they win the elections in February, the conservatives intend to repeal these laws.
Among them are:
Bürgergeld, the unemployment benefit, which amounts to 563 euros.
The phase-out of nuclear energy.
A law that simplifies the process of obtaining German citizenship after 3-5 years of residence, with the possibility of retaining dual citizenship.
Legalization of cannabis.
A law on self-determination regarding gender identity.
Regulations that facilitate illegal migration.
The list is still being finalized. However, according to polls, the CDU/CSU is expected to receive just over 30% of the vote in the elections, and to form a majority, they will need to form a coalition with another party. The conservatives rule out cooperation with the right-wing “Alternative for Germany,” and it is likely that a coalition partner from the current government will not want to revise laws that they themselves have enacted. Furthermore, legally, repealing a law in Germany is extremely difficult.
