Poland searches for Ukrainian suspected of complicity in mass murder

The Polish prosecutor’s office has issued a wanted notice for Ukrainian citizen Ivan Raylyanu, who is suspected of involvement in a murder that took place in an abandoned apartment building in Warsaw.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the investigation revealed that between March 1 and April 1, 2024, Ivan Raylyanu was involved in the killing of a man, whose body was found in the vacant building in April. Investigators claim that Raylyanu brutally beat the victim, kicking him all over his body, causing severe injuries, including skull fractures, damage to the kidneys and spleen, and broken ribs with lung damage. The man died from the injuries sustained.

As part of the investigation into the discovery of four men’s bodies in the abandoned building, 11 people are currently considered suspects. Two of them—Andrey S. and Ion B.—have been charged with murder and are under arrest.

The spokesperson for the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office, prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba, stated that seven people are being charged with failing to report the crime, and one suspect, likely involved in a fight and assault, is being held in custody. Additionally, the prosecutor mentioned that permission has been granted for the burial of the bodies of the three deceased men, and plans are underway to separate the case materials for further proceedings related to charges of concealing the crime.
