A fire has broken out at the National Theatre in Prague, a national architectural monument, with firefighters currently battling the blaze.
According to Novinky, the fire is reported to have started in the dressing rooms. Firefighters from across Prague are at the scene, and a second-level alarm has been declared. The investigation into the extent of the fire is still ongoing.
Fire trucks, police and rescue vehicles have blocked traffic in the area, potentially causing congestion. A special Fénix vehicle has been deployed to assist with evacuating people.
The police confirmed that Národní Street has been closed in one direction from the Vltava River to Skořepka Street around the National Theatre, though other nearby routes remain open, including for trams.
All individuals have been evacuated from the building. Theatre spokesperson Tomáš Staněk reported that the fire began in a staff dressing room, specifically in the area used by a cleaner.
