A truce between Israel and Hezbollah begins on Wednesday

Israel and Lebanon have reached an agreement on a ceasefire, reports Reuters, citing Israeli Channel 12.

Israel’s Security Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has approved the agreement, which will take effect on Wednesday. It is expected that the Prime Minister will officially announce the decision, followed by a video address from U.S. President Joe Biden.

Terms of the Agreement

60-Day Ceasefire: Israel will withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah will move its forces north of the Litani River.
Negotiations: The parties will begin discussions on demarcating disputed border areas.
Monitoring: The agreement’s implementation will be overseen by an international commission led by the United States.
Guarantees: Washington will grant Israel the right to take military action in case Hezbollah violates the agreement.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib stated that after the withdrawal of Israeli forces, Lebanon will deploy at least 5,000 troops in the south. Additionally, the United States may assist in rebuilding infrastructure destroyed by Israeli strikes.
