Germany’s Attorney General Jens Rommel announced progress in the investigation of the Nord Stream pipeline explosions. According to him, investigators have identified two suspects.
However, he emphasized that much work remains to clarify all circumstances, including identifying other individuals involved and determining the motives behind the crime.
We were able to identify two suspects. This is a significant success that seemed unlikely at the beginning of the investigation, Rommel noted.
The Attorney General pointed out that the attack dealt a serious blow to Germany’s energy supply, threatening the country’s economic stability.
Earlier, German media outlets such as ARD, Süddeutsche Zeitung, and Die Zeit reported that in June, a warrant was issued for the arrest of the main suspect— a Ukrainian diving instructor named Vladimir. However, it was later revealed that this individual had left Poland, presumably after being warned of the impending arrest.
At the time, the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office refrained from commenting on the issuance of the warrant. However, information about the Ukrainian suspect’s involvement was later confirmed through a report by Spiegel.
