Norwegian arms manufacturer Nammo has commenced construction of a new production facility in the town of Raufoss, located in the northern part of the country, as part of efforts to bolster defense manufacturing.
The Norwegian government has signed a 1.083 billion NOK (approximately €93 million) agreement with Nammo to maintain heightened production readiness over the next 15 years.
The agreement includes the construction of a new facility aimed at increasing the production of ammunition. The groundbreaking ceremony for the Raufoss site took place on Monday, December 2.
“This initiative will help boost the production of artillery ammunition and rocket engines, which are crucial for Norway, NATO, and Ukraine,” stated Hans Christian Kjølseth, State Secretary at Norway’s Ministry of Defense.
