Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó traveled to Moscow on Monday, December 2, for talks with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov.
Szijjártó announced the visit on Facebook, emphasizing Hungary’s position as an advocate for peace. He reiterated statements frequently made by Hungarian officials that “the war in Ukraine cannot be resolved on the battlefield, and a solution must be found at the negotiation table.”
He noted that severing relations with Russia makes such negotiations impossible.
Szijjártó also stated that Hungary “supports dialogue, as this is the only way to give peacekeeping efforts a chance to succeed.”
