Tucker Carlson returns to Moscow for exclusive interview with Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov

Tucker Carlson, the conservative American commentator and former Fox News anchor, announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he had returned to Moscow to interview Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

In his post, Carlson shared, “We came back to Moscow yesterday to interview the Foreign Minister of Russia, Sergey Lavrov, the longest-serving foreign minister in the world,” and promised that the interview would be released “very soon.”

This marks Carlson’s second interview with a high-ranking Russian official in 2024. Earlier in February, he conducted interview with President Vladimir Putin.

Carlson said that his conversation with Lavrov aimed to provide insight into the “Russian perspective” on the ongoing conflict with Ukraine. Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the Russian foreign ministry, described the interview as “extensive,” lasting “more than one and a half hours.” Zakharova noted that the discussion included “the modern, recent history of our difficult relations with the United States, the impact of all this on world geopolitics, the possibilities of the future state of affairs,” as well as Ukraine and other topics.

In a video shared on Tuesday, Carlson sharply criticized the Biden administration’s approach to the war, stating it had “driven the U.S. ever-closer to a nuclear conflict with Russia.” “We are, unbeknownst to most Americans, in a hot war with Russia,” Carlson declared. He also took aim at President Joe Biden’s decision to allow American-made weapons to be used by Ukraine to target Russian territory, arguing that it pushed the U.S. “closer to nuclear war than any time in history.”

Carlson hinted at discussing additional topics in the interview, including what a potential U.S. election win by Donald Trump could mean for the conflict.
