Approximately 50 political leaders have been invited to the official reopening ceremony of Notre-Dame Cathedral following its reconstruction. The event, scheduled for December 7, will be attended by key figures, including a select group invited by the Élysée Palace.
It was previously reported that former U.S. President Donald Trump had also received an invitation. On Thursday, a representative of the European Commission confirmed that President Ursula von der Leyen would be present, marking her and many others’ first opportunity to meet Trump since his election.
The Élysée Palace has yet to disclose the complete list of invitees to the media. However, according to unofficial information gathered by France Info from other European sources, First Lady Jill Biden, Italian President Sergio Mattarella, and Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou are expected to attend.
French President Emmanuel Macron had already visited the newly restored interior of the cathedral on the morning of November 29 and had made several visits during various stages of the renovation.
Tickets for services at the newly restored Notre-Dame, which will take place in the days following the reopening, were sold out in less than two hours.
