German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has reportedly had an in-depth conversation with former U.S. President Donald Trump about Ukraine, according to the Funke media group. Scholz’s representatives have also directly communicated with Trump’s security advisors on the matter.
“I am confident that we can develop a joint strategy for Ukraine. My guiding principle remains that nothing can be resolved without giving the Ukrainian people a voice,” said Scholz.
Earlier, Scholz had spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin and met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Scholz has also opposed supplying long-range missiles to Ukraine and speeding up Ukraine’s NATO accession process.
