In Gelsenkirchen, Germany, a 52-year-old Iraqi man confessed to killing his 46-year-old wife, the mother of nine children, while she slept.
The man walked into a local police station on Tuesday, admitting to the crime. Police rushed to the family’s apartment in the Bulmke-Hüllen district, but when they arrived, it was too late to save her. The authorities confirmed the woman had been beaten and stabbed to death.
While the motive remains unclear, neighbors were shocked, stating that the couple seemed happy and peaceful. One neighbor noted, “There were no signs of trouble,” mentioning how the couple often enjoyed music together on their balcony.
The couple had six children living in Germany, while three more children lived in Iraq. The crime scene was sealed for investigation, and the woman’s body was sent for an autopsy. A special murder unit was formed to determine the motive behind the brutal attack. The suspect was charged with murder, and an arrest warrant was issued. The investigation is still ongoing.
