Lawyers for American rapper Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, have requested that the judge reveal the identity of the woman accusing him of raping a 13-year-old girl in 2000, or dismiss the case entirely.
Earlier, NBC News reported that both Jay-Z and fellow rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs were named in a lawsuit accusing them of the rape of the girl. The plaintiff’s name has not been disclosed.
Jay-Z’s legal team has asked the judge to reject the plaintiff’s request to proceed with the case under a pseudonym or to dismiss the case altogether.
Additionally, Jay-Z’s lawyers have accused the plaintiff’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, of conducting a “months-long media campaign to sway public opinion.”” The rapper’s legal team confirmed that Jay-Z had filed an anonymous lawsuit against Buzbee in November.
In November, TMZ reported that a “public figure” had filed a lawsuit accusing Buzbee of extortion. Buzbee is representing over 120 people who have accused Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexual assault.
