French President Emmanuel Macron has invited the leaders of all parliamentary parties, except the right-wing and far-left, to negotiations on Tuesday, December 10, regarding the formation of a government.
This was announced on the evening of December 9 by the Élysée Palace.
Macron’s office noted that after several days of consultations, he extended invitations to “all political parties that have expressed support for compromise, with the aim of forming a government that serves the common interest or enabling such a formation.”
“The goal is to make progress on agreeing to a method,” the Élysée Palace added.
As in previous negotiations, representatives of the right-wing National Rally and the far-left France Unbowed will not be invited to participate.
It is worth noting that Macron is working to determine a candidate for the new prime minister after Michel Barnier’s government was ousted by a vote of no confidence, the first such occurrence since 1962. Macron has stated that he has no intention of resigning.
