Donald Trump has announced that, during his potential second term as president, he intends to forgo all financial benefits traditionally granted to the head of state.
In an interview with NBC, he emphasized that he would not accept the annual presidential salary of $400,000 and would also decline the lifetime pension.
I won’t take a single cent. This is my contribution to reducing government spending, Trump stated.
He also noted that he could become the first U.S. president to forgo all payments for his work, “except, perhaps, George Washington.”
During his first term, Trump similarly refused his presidential salary, redirecting the funds to charity and various government programs, including the preservation of national parks.
Despite these actions, Trump remains one of the wealthiest individuals in the United States. According to Forbes, his net worth is estimated at $2.3 billion.
