Ukrainian missile strike targets power plant in Russia’s Rostov region

A Ukrainian missile strike has reportedly targeted a thermal power plant in the Rostov region, causing significant damage to infrastructure in Taganrog, Russia.

The attack left 27 residential buildings in the city without heating. Additionally, Russian authorities claim that the Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex, an aircraft plant 150 kilometers from the frontlines, was also hit by drones and missiles.

In a separate incident that same night, Ukrainian drones targeted Bryansk Oblast, igniting an oil facility.

Yuri Slyusary, the acting governor of Rostov, described the strike on Taganrog as hitting an “industrial facility” and reported damage to 14 parked cars. Taganrog’s mayor, Svetlana Kambulova, confirmed the loss of heating in the 27 residential buildings but noted there were no casualties.

Around 3:30 a.m. local time, social media videos captured multiple explosions in the city. While these claims have not been independently verified, the Ukrainian military has yet to comment on the incident. The Rostov region, located near the border, has experienced regular Ukrainian strikes since the war’s onset.
