Starting in January, information on job vacancies registered with the Labor Office will undergo significant changes. Officials will only offer positions that companies have actively made available to unemployed individuals for the past six months.
This will put an end to situations where people apply for already-filled positions or where salaries are so low that the roles remain unfilled for years. If a position remains relevant, companies will need to re-register it. The first outdated listings are expected to be removed from the database as early as next month.
This was announced by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. “With this measure, we aim to ensure that the registration of job vacancies reflects the actual state of labor market demand as accurately as possible,” said Minister Marian Jurečka (KDU-ČSL).
“This change will benefit all stakeholders: employers will gain greater confidence that their vacancies are effectively managed within the registry, and workers will gain access to relevant job offers both at the Czech and European levels,” he added. This will significantly improve the efficiency of the Labor Office in facilitating employment.
Exceptions apply to positions under ongoing procedures for issuing a work card, blue card, or work permit for foreigners. In these cases, the job listing will remain in the registry until the corresponding administrative process is completed.
This step is part of the ministry’s response to amendments to the Employment Act, which came into effect on July 1 this year. The amendments introduced a maximum period for retaining job listings in the Labor Office’s database.
As a result of the automatic expiration of job listings, a significant reduction in the number of vacancies is expected. This will be most pronounced in January, when all listings submitted before July 1 will be removed.
