The United States has unveiled a new $500 million weapons aid package for Ukraine, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced on Thursday.
White House spokesperson John Kirby reaffirmed the administration’s dedication, stating that additional aid packages would continue to be provided “right up to the end of this administration.”
This package includes ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), High-speed Anti-radiation Missiles (HARMs), and other resources. It follows a $725 million package announced just 10 days ago, which provided missiles, ammunition, anti-personnel mines, and other weaponry.
Blinken noted that after Thursday’s announcement, approximately $5.6 billion remains available under the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA). This mechanism allows the Biden administration to quickly transfer weapons from U.S. stockpiles to Ukraine without requiring congressional approval.
