A Christmas party for Buckingham Palace staff ended in chaos when one of the royal maids was arrested for causing a disturbance, reports The Sun.
The woman, reportedly intoxicated, threw crockery and got into a physical altercation. Police were called to a nearby bar after the situation escalated, with glasses being smashed and punches thrown.
Around 50 palace employees had gathered for a party at a pub on Victoria Street. The incident began when the maid became violent, attacking a manager and damaging property. Witnesses described her behavior as erratic, saying she was “clearly out of control.”
Police arrived around 9:00 PM and arrested the 24-year-old for fighting, property damage, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. She spent the night in a cell and was released the following day with a fine.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that the staff had attended a private event at the palace before heading to the pub. A spokesperson stated that while the incident occurred outside of work, it would be thoroughly investigated and disciplinary actions would be taken where necessary.
