Trump’s team has begun talks with the White House and Kiev on a ceasefire

Donald Trump’s national security team is negotiating with the White House and Ukrainian officials on potential ways to end the conflict with Russia, NBC News reports.

However, the details of the president-elect’s proposals have not yet been shared with Ukraine. Trump’s advisers and appointees to his future cabinet are discussing different approaches, but their views on Ukraine vary. Trump has previously stated that he wants to end the fighting, calling the losses on both sides a “tragedy.” At the same time, he hinted at the possibility of reducing military aid to Ukraine and limiting long-range missile strikes on Russian rear targets.

Both the U.S. and Ukraine have yet to receive clear signals about Russia’s willingness to make concessions. Meanwhile, Russian troops continue to strengthen their positions in eastern Ukraine.

Recent meetings between Trump’s team and Ukrainian representatives, including one facilitated by France, have been constructive, sources claim. However, no specific plans, including the potential exclusion of Ukraine’s NATO membership, have been outlined.

Experts believe that Russia is unlikely to agree to a ceasefire without broader security guarantees.
