A shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, has left Five dead and five injured, local authorities confirmed on Monday. The incident is being treated as an “active and ongoing investigation,” according to a statement from the Madison Police Department.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area while the investigation continues. “More information will be released as it is available,” the statement added.
The private Christian school, located on a 28-acre campus, serves approximately 390 students from kindergarten through high school and is attended by families from the Dane County area.
Footage from local media showed a heavy emergency response, with dozens of police vehicles, ambulances, and fire trucks converging on the scene.
This incident adds to the ongoing crisis of school shootings in the United States, which far surpasses the frequency seen in any other nation. Efforts to address the epidemic, particularly by restricting access to firearms, have largely stalled despite the recurring tragedies.
